Martial (38/41 A.D - c. 103 A.D)Marcus Valerius Martialis was given his cognomen because he was born on March 1st. He went to Rome in 64 AD. He was associated with Seneca the Younger and Lucan before their premature deaths from the Pisonian conspiracy accusations. He was poor ad lived in a third floor lodging and later had a cottage in Nomentum, and later a house on the Quirinal Hill. He made poetry more for a living since his wealth depended on his sales and patrons. He is also has one of most vulgar and dirty-minded content in his writings out of all Latin authors (discretion is advised).
