Aulus Gellius (Before 125 A.D - After 180 A.D)
Historians knows barely anything about Aulus Gellius due to his scant historical records. Aulus Gellius was taught by Fronto in Rome, Herodes Atticus in Greece, and Sulpicius Apollinaris (in Greece). He was known for the Noctes Atticae (a compilation of random and interesting stories for Aulus Gellius), where we have stories such as Androcles and the Lion. His stories are from the winter nights during his one year stay in Attica. It was said that he complied these stories to serve as bedtime stories to his children. I myself have read selections like Androcles and the Lion for a bedtime story as a child.
