Hyginus ( c. 64 B.C – A.D 17)A freedman of Augustus and librarian on the Palatine Library, he was best remembered for his commentaries on Vergil's works (that of the origin of bees, and parts about agriculture). Hyginus wrote astronomy and mythology as well (talk about being an overachiever). Hyginus wrote based on amount, but most of his works are now lost. According to Suetonius, he lived in poverty at old age. He either was a native of the Iberian Peninsula or of Alexandria.
