Fronto (100 A.D - c. 160 A.D)He did not have much political influence, but he was consul in 143 AD with Herodes Atticus the Greek sophist. He is also said to have been the tutor to the future emperors Marcus Aurelius and Lucius Verus. He had a cordial relationship with Marcus Aurelius despite their differences, where Marcus Aurelius preferred ethical and philosophical meditation over the world of rhetoric. Fronto’s interest in rhetoric is confined to the matters of language and style. He was also interested by Old Latin words that were no longer in use in his time period, considered a "kind of new" Cicero. He also wrote a lot of Letters that survived, but we know him as more of a rhetorician.
