Apicius (? - ?)He was a gourmet during the reign of Tiberius. His name seems to have been originally Marcus Gavius. The cognomen Apicius is said to have been derived from the fact that there was a famous gourmet at the end of the 2nd Century AD with that name. He wrote a work called the De Re Coquinaria, where the recipes were divided into ten works. The basis of this work is formed by works of medical character, such as the deistic qualities of the recipes or medicines for disorders in the digestive system. This Apicius probably was a contemporaneity of Tiberius
